Dedeček's cottage
Dedeček’s cottage is a cosy mountain cottage located near the final station of a cable car belonging to the SKI CENTRE Mýto pod Ďumbierom. It was built on the ruins of a former cottage in 2015.
The original cottage was built in the 1940s by a Breznian watchmaker and goldsmith Karol Dedeček, whose name the cottage bears to this day. The former cottage has passed through numerous changes. In the following of the post-war political turmoil it was expropriated together with other touristic facilities, which were owned by hiking clubs and private individuals. Later, some hikers marked the cottage in the maps as a tourist shelter or "shelter of the Mostáreň Brezno Physical Education Unit". Many remember the original hut as a warming spot for skiers.
Both in the past and today, Dedeček's cottage has been a destination of many skiers, alpine skiers and cross-country skiers. During the summer months, tourists and cyclists wander around the area and it is a popular spot for families with children. Many nature lovers fall for the pleasant environment with views of the Low Tatras.
In Dedeček's cottage you can, among other things, enjoy great homemade food and desserts or strengthen yourself by herbal tea or other drinks. The area around the cottage is equipped with climbing frames, swings and children's games. Thus, this place is the right choice for a family trip.
