Dobroč Virgin Forest

Dobroč Virgin Forest is a national nature reserve and is one of the oldest forest reserves in Slovakia. For the general public, it is more of a mystery. It is a target of professional excursions, mostly as part of international conferences and symposia on forestry issues. It is located in the district of the Forestry Office in Čierny Balog, in the Brôtovo Valley, about 6 km away from the local part of the village called Dobroč.

In times when the nature reserve was freely accessible, flora and fauna were disturbed. It was one of the reasons for differentiating the growing influx of visitors into a small and ecologically vulnerable area.

An entry is permitted if an exception is issued for forestry and otherwise environmentally oriented professional expeditions. These are mostly accompanied by a professional employee of the Forestry Office in Čierny Balog. General public has the opportunity to come through forest complexes to the immediate vicinity of the national nature reserve protection zone, where thy find information panels. For this type of visits, it is possible to order a guide accompanying them to the national nature reserve border.
