From Horná Lehota to Hrádok
The national protected cultural monument Hrádok (834 m a.s.l.), the former settlement of the Celts, consists of a system of hill forts in the Horehronie region, to which the nature trail leads. You can start your walk, which will be approximately 3.5 km long, in the centre of the village of Horná Lehota. From there, you will follow the blue trail.
Archaeological research carried out at the Hrádok site between 1999 and 2002 has shown that the area was inhabited during the Iron Age and that its first settlers - the Celts, were primarily involved in the processing of iron.
This site was favoured by the Slovak national movement leader Samo Chalupka, who was also active in the village of Horná Lehota, as well as by the prominent Czech writer Božena Nemcová. Various legends also circulate around this site, which mysteriously come to life with the arrival of visitors, especially the youngest ones, who immediately grow fond of the place.
