The history of enamelling in Horehronie dates back to the end of the 19th century, when the enamelling plant in Hronec began production in 1885. Tea sets, jubilee items, tables or various accessories were leaving the workshop of the Hronec enamel factory, which has been producing unique enamel objects for almost 60 years. The past associated with the production of enamelled goods in Horehronie is still flourishing even today in the form of enamelled jewellery and paintings by Iva Javorčíková. In her cosy workshop in Mýto pod Ďumbierom, pieces of copper in combination with enamel of various colours create original designer jewellery and pictures carrying the legacy of almost forgotten enamelling technique. Earrings, brooches, clasps, pendants, bracelets and enamel pictures – all of these are distinctive handmade works, that render a part of history of Horehronie alive and make it widely known far beyond the region.
