Mrs. Alena Ďurečková comes from the village of Bacúch in the Horehronie region. In her childhood, she was fascinated by traditions and folklore and thus turned her love for folk crafts into her work. At the age of 11 she already started embroidering, knitting and crocheting. At first, she would make dresses for costumed dolls, and eventually, she began to make clothes for her sisters and friends. Her products bear elements of traditional folk culture, but at the same time, they are adapted for casual everyday wear. They are decorated with folk embroideries inspired by traditional folk costumes in the Horehronie region. In her work, she combines the precision of our grandmothers' traditional costumes with modern simplicity.
