The guest house Encián, property of husband and wife Javorčíks, treasure traditions. On the one hand, a good many visitors get charmed by the exterior of the cosy renovated 90-years-old cottage and a beautiful garden equipped with outdoor sitting area. On the other hand, the interior of the guest house holds charms thanks to outstanding woven carpets, wooden furniture, cast-iron bells, pictures and accessories preserved from past times. Apart from comfortable accommodation the visitors get direct access to the regional cuisine. The family guest house Encián offers its guests the opportunity to have a taste of Horehronie balls (“Horehronské guľky”), farm delicacies, “halušky” (note of the interpreter: the national dish; pieces of potato dough boiled and served traditionally with sour sheep cheese) and “strapačky” (note of the interpreter; a dish similar to “halušky” served with stewed sauerkraut). The guest house also hosts a workshop, where the Javorčíks create unique enamel jewellery and carvings and a shop selling souvenirs, ceramics, embroidery and jewellery from artists and craftsmen from Horehronie.
