
Experience the Horehronie region from the sky via a scenic flight over the most beautiful landscapes in the paradise of the Low Tatras
The flight route starts at the airport in Očová, on board of Sky Story ATO aircraft. Prior to the flight itself, you will receive a short introduction as well as a briefing to make sure you are relaxed and comfortable for the experience of a lifetime.Skilled pilots and instructors with many years of experience will take care of your safety, well-being and will make sure you are provided with all the information you need throughout the flight.
After the take-off, you will embark on a beautiful flight during which you will explore the Horehronie region itself, which will begin to reveal itself after just a few minutes of flight.
Description of the flight route
After the take-off, in a moderate climb, the flight will head northeast to approach the first landmarks of the Horehronie region. After a few minutes of flight, you will be looking down on the villages of Lom nad Rimavicou and Čierny Balog. You will pass over the nature trail from the spring of the river Rimavica to the spring of the river Ipeľ, where there is also a huge bench, and then over the Dobročský forest which is classified as a protected nature area with the highest 5th level of protection. On your left, you will pass the Forestry Museum in the Vydrovská valley. There, one of the routes of the forest narrow-gauge railway, the Čiernohronská železnička, leads to the forestry museum.
The flight continues above the Zbojská saddle, famous for Sheep Shelter Zbojská, and the lookout tower with elements of folk architecture looming above it. You will fly over one of the youngest national parks Muránska Planina with the remains of the castle bearing the same name. On your right, you will pass the Slovak Ore Mountains. Gradually ascending and gaining sufficient height, you will eventually reach the most distant village of Telgárt in the Horehronie region, popular for its railway jewels - the Chmarošský and Telgárt viaduct. The overall atmosphere is completed by the stylish Depo Café in the Ski Telgárt.
You are hovering above the King's Hill - the highest peak in the eastern part of the Low Tatras celebrated by poets. Below it lies the picturesque village of Šumiac, which is home to the Demo's little bathhouse (Demova kupieľka) - the museum of the oldest sauna in the territory of the former Czechoslovakia. Then, you will pass over Pohorelská Maša, the former seat of the ironworks complex of the Coburg family, after whom a local park undergoing extensive restoration is named. Afterwards, you will pass Heľpa and Polomka, famous for their folklore festivities, with the Polomské očko observation tower at the foot of the Ski Polomka Bučník slope.
You are approaching the highest peak of the Low Tatras - Ďumbier, and the cottage at its foot bearing the name of the important Slovak politician, soldier and aviator Gen. M. R. Štefánik. You will end your tour of the Low Tatras on the southern side of the most visited part of the region - Chopok, which is the centre of the largest ski resort in Slovakia - JASNÁ, with a panoramic restaurant and a hotel as a single unit - Rotunda. Around you, you will see the golf and ski area on Tále and the water reservoir Krpáčovo.
In the distance you can also see the very centre of the Horehronie region, the town of Brezno, which we definitely recommend you visit in person. The dominant feature of the town is the Town Tower with the Information Centre in the Bell Tower, as well as the second highest observation tower in Slovakia - Horné Lazy. Among other things, there is also one of the largest car museums in Central Europe - the Double Red Cars Museum, as well as sights such as the Horehronie Museum, the Jewish Synagogue, the Catholic and Evangelical churches, all of which you can visit on a guided tour of the city or individually, thanks to the new city game "On the stroll through the city of Brezno" - a form of a fun experience.
Gradually descending, you will get a glimpse of the centre of Brusno, which was famous in the past for its lace-making and nowadays for its spas, as well as for its adrenaline rafting on the Hron River. Many a paddler will surely be found on the river surface in the vicinity of the village of Nemecká, marked by its tragic history. Here, there is the lime kiln - Slovak National Uprising Memorial, which in 1945 became a site of mass executions of the direct participants of the Slovak National Uprising
On your right, you will see the village of Ľubietová with the geographical centre of Slovakia called Hrb (the Hump). If you take a better look, you will certainly not miss the Horská chata pod Hrbom, which is a popular point for tourists. Along the route to the destination of your aerial journey, you will still catch a glimpse of the national cultural monument - Ľupča Castle, which has been guarding the village of Slovenská Ľupča and its surroundings since the 13th century.
Here the flight takes a southward course, passing through the outskirts of the town of Banská Bystrica, so that after the remaining kilometres in the air, on the wings of the Sky Story flight school aircraft, you can land safely back at the airport in Očová, full of impressions and fantastic experiences.
