Observation tower Horné Lazy

The observation tower “Horné Lazy“ is the second tallest observation tower in Slovakia. After climbing 192 steps, you will reach a height of 39.6 meters, while enchanted by beautiful panoramic views of the entire Low Tatras mountains ranging from peak Kráľova Hola to the city of Banská Bystrica, the royal city of Brezno, valley “Horehronské podolie”, or hills called Veporské vrchy.

You can reach the observation tower from several directions. Two routes to the tower start in the town of Brezno, in the Banisko locality, where tourists can also find a new game reserve with speckled fallow deer. For tourists arriving by car, we recommend parking at free car parks: at the S1 shopping centre, at the Tesco or Kaufland supermarkets.

Tourists can reach the observation tower from Banisko along the path surrounded by views of nature after a walk of around 4 kilometres in 60 to 90 minutes, depending on their chosen pace. There are hiking trails leading to the observation tower which start in villages Valaská, Bystrá and Mýto pod Ďumbierom in region called “Pohanské”.

The educational interactive trail to the observation tower is lined by interesting information about the nature of the location. Tourists will also find wooden sculptures of animals living in the forests of Horné Lazy. A huge wooden megaphone helps tourists listen to the voices of the forest.

Tourists can enjoy unique views from the second highest observation tower, magnified by the binoculars located at the top of the tower. The entrance to the observation tower is free of charge.
